Default I am sooo pissed about this skill nerf, post if you agree or disagree...

This skill was one of my favorites before the bogus memser nerfs for NF, but now, its almost not worth using it. Empathy was a long lasting skill at about 21 seconds and i think about 30 damage every time a foe attacked(Maxed Domination Attribute). Now, however, when u start with domination, it only lasts 5 seconds. Though it has higher damage, most foes get in only 2-3 attacks in that time. Also, since it only lasts 5 seconds, where as before it lasted 8 seconds(beginning domination) you now have to wait 5 seconds for it to recharge, since its recharge stayed the same at 10 seconds. Now, who thinks this is the most ridiculous nerf Anet has made in a long time? Post ur agreements or disagreements plz, thx.

Despite the fact that the duration has been shortened, the damage per hit has increased by a respectable amount. I tend to think of empathy not a "spam" skill, more of a select target wisely and apply. In NF for instance, try applying this on an enemy dervish that is swinging the scythe and hitting several of your party members at once, nice damage IMO. Also, I'm at work so I can't double check the duration in seconds, but I think you may be waaaay off with how long it lasts at max (or close to) domination.

This is in no way the "most ridiculous nerf Anet has made in a long time".

You're comparing 15 dom pre-change to 1 dom post-change? Yes, I can see how that would seem like a nerf. Then you compare a 5 second hex to an 8 second hex. Yes, Anet is ridiculous for making one of the more powerful dom mesmer PvE skills last 3 seconds less at level one.

At 15 dom, its 45 for 15s, compared to 30 for 20s. The overall potential damage has been increased. This was a buff, especially as melee mobs tend to run around more - you want more damage on the hits they do make.

I think the changes to empathy are good more damage since people and creatures are mostly wise to is effects and avoid attacking if they can

I feel it was changed to be more precise and lethal.
Part of being a mesmer is anticipating and twitch reflexes.
The new empathy seems best used on a melee type enemy that has either telegraphed a melee spike is coming or have just started one. It seems to be very effective in that type of use.

A little disappointed by some of the nerfs (read Distortion!!!) but that kinda blends with me being extremely happy with some of the new skills (Spiritual Pain, Mistrust, Sig of Illusions, Ether Phantom, Web of Disruption). And Glyph of Lesser Energy works pretty well as all around nrg management for a Me. Bottom line: it's all good I guess, we'll be just fine.

Most mobs dont last a hex that has a duration of 21 seconds anyway. I'm glad it got a buff, I got tired of that skill being poorly compared to SS, now it has a leg to stand on.

I dont see this as a nerf either. The main thing about playing mesmer is you have to choose targets, and not just spam hexes blindly. Empathy is actually much more dangerous now.

The new Empathy is great when applied on Frenzy Warriors/other IAS attackers, Barrage Rangers (eg. FoW) and other AoE attackers. I like it.

Everyone, I have a confession to make...I didn't like this "nerf" either.

Then I actually played the game, and I realised that most of the times, Empathy doesn't last it's full time anyway, or it gets stripped (JADE BROTHERHOOD MESMERS!!!!) way to early. Hurray for 45 dmg!
